I was wondering if anybody could assist me here. I have an 84' camaro that just has the standard gauge cluster (speedo, fuel, and the rest are idiot lights) and I am wanting to swap these out with a set of gauges out of an 84'z and I was just wondering what I actually need to make this work. Will my sending units and wirring harness work or do I need the ones out of the Z. PLEASE HELP!!

 

I changed clusters in an 87, from the speedo/gas w/ idiot lights, to speedo/tach w/ all guages. Guages worked fine and everything, But you need to make sure the guages that you get were from a car w/ the same amount of cyls that you have. A v6 guage will not work w/ a v8, at least not to my knowledge.

 

Monk, Thanks for the info. Did you re-use your existing sending units and everything or did you have to replace all of that as well. I currently have a 305 in the car now so both engines are the same

 

all you need is teh gauge cluster, oil pressure, and water temp sending unit. It should just plug right in.

 

how about taking the stock tach out and replacing it with an autometer 5' tach? if it cant be done im still gunna get a tach w/ shift light for the dash or somn.....but i might need to replace the stocker anyways cause its stuck at about 2500 (keep in mind i dont have the motor in it right yet)
