Use an open flame and wave it around the car and where it flares up is where it is leaking.
Seriously, I'd go get the car washed and dump some dye in the fuel tank. Drive it for a bit and use a blacklight and see where it leaks at. First suspect is the fuel tank.

I've got a stock 91 Camaro RS, the factory exhaust system sucks performance wise but as far as the tailpipes possibly being too short I don't know. When I took the car this past weekend somewhere so I could put Flow's on it, the guys working there said my catalytic converter was bad and something about it leaking (maybe that's the exhaust leak you're talking about), the Flow's wouldn't sound right till I replaced the cat etc. I told my dad and he said that if the cat went completely out it would smell like rotten eggs even when parked. Right now mine just smells bad when I'm either reving or I take off fast at a light. A friend here at work said a friend of his took the cat off his truck and that when sitting still it smelled like @$$ several feet around the truck.
It could be an exhaust leak underneath the car, but let me tell you of what my car was doing, you may have the same problem.
Check to see if your hatch is completely sealing/closing. I was high asa kite after driving from FL to Atl after i bought my car. I could not figure out why the hell the fumes were so potent and how they were getting in. My hatch, like most 3rd gens, had a faulty pwr hatch motor and it had been jury rigged shut. I could see built up carbon on my hatch. Sure enough, the fumes were being sucked from the exhaust through the hatch and into the car. Rigged the hatch better and got it to see and no more fumes.
Something ya might not have thought about, but definately worth checking out. Hope this helps you out man.
