Bad Performance, bad gas mileage, and more exhaust fumes?!?

OK here goes. My 94 Z28 A4 car just passed 57,000 miles and am now experiencing some problems that i need to get solved. Lately i have been blessed and have gotten over 23 MPG on 93 octane, but just this week ive been experiencing otherwise. I now out of the blue get less than 15 MPG, the performance sucks, and have no idea what happened. I have been driving the car the same...even amount of Highway as city, really havent beaten on the car, NO WOT runs at all, all because of a job situation, and also gas being about $2.12 a gallon(grr another arguement for later). I have also noticed that my exhaust fumes are much more pronounced than before, not running rich or lean i dont believe, but i smell the fumes ALOT more. I put the car up in the air (on a lift) and no exhaust leaks. A loss in performance, and gas mileage, while increase in exhaust fumes....WHY?

If you have ANY ideas please let me know i am desperate and need this back, otherwise i think im going to have to get rid of the camaro, and i would rather not do that...I dont have the resources to keep fixing the car, and pay for insane gas prices at the same time! Thanks

hmm?

i was gonna say bad catalytic converter, but im not positive if it would cause more pronounced exhaust fumes. i know it changes the smell. my exhaust smelled like rotten eggs whem my cat went, and i had all the same symptoms.

****, nm, just read you have a high flow cat. im back to square one.

I dont have a high flow cat...thats a modification on my "to come list" But, i have smelled the "rotten egg" smell a few times before on the car..not alot though. What are the odds that my cat or o2's are bad? how many o2's does a 94 have? thanks

Sounds like o2 problem for me. My car was getting like 125 miles to the tank, alot of smoke coming out of exhaust when first started up. I changed one o2 last week and my car finally is running well.
