fuel pump question

Hello, i have a 88 305 IROCZ that the fuel pump just recently died out on. My son currently is in the process of building his 396 LT1 1995 z28, he is upgrading to a walbro pump, and i was wondering if the stock fuel pump off his lt1 would possibly fit into my 88' 305 TPI irocz.

Thanks

I wouldn't bother because it is a used pump. It is a big enough PITA to change the pump that I would rather not chance it on an old pump

Its not that hard to change the pump. Just cut a hole in the floor board above the gas tank.....only takes about hour the first time. Cutting the floor is the longest part. If you need to change the pump after that its about a half hour job. Sure beats removing the rear and dropping the tank.

If you are planning to drop it every 2 days, sure, cut the hole. In the 12 years I owned my car, I only dropped it once and that was because the tank was rusting and a hole was forming. If you do it right, you should not have to drop the tank for a long time. I have 160K on the clock and only dropped the tank because of rust. The pump was fine and I didn't want to take a chance. Besides, I might need the fuel so I installed a larger pump

Just drop the damn tank. It will take an hour extra. The walbro 255 high volume is $105 and you cant go wrong with it.

The time you spend cutting and measuring, removing carpet, etc, you would be already well on your way to doing the pump. We did not have to do much. Unbolt the rear end and we ould take the tank out. Let the rear end hang there.
