Fuel line

I want to install a carb spacer I have. If I install it though, the fuel line that goes into the carb/fuel filter will be too short and wont reach. I have the stock q-jet carb. Im thinking of getting this fuel line That should work right? Also would it be better to start using an inline fuel filter? I have no idea what fittings I would need to get to connect the new line back up.

Re: Fuel line

Your gonna need to use AN fittings with that. Give Summit a call and explain to them what you are wanting to do.

They will point you in the right direction. The 3/8's inside diameter hose you will be using equates to a -6AN fitting. AN stands for Army/Navy. AN fittings are 37 degree flare fittings, not the standard 45 degree flare the plumbing industry uses.

It would be a good idea to know the HP/TQ the car makes so you can size the correct size hose and fittings. Also, the least amount of bends you have the better.

The numbers in the sizing are equal to the outside diameter of the hose in 1/16th".

A site that has been quite helpful to me in the past is www.earls.co.uk

If you look in the back of the Car Catalog is has a very in depth lesson on hose diameters and associated fittings.

Re: Fuel line

Hey thanks for the help I appreciate it I will just go with the stock 3/8 line size since I probably wouldn't need anything bigger. Here is what I will be going with though. Just need to pick an inline filter. Does anybody know the size of the fuel pump? Summit said its either 1/4 or 3/8. Just want to make sure before I order the stuff.

Carb fuel inlet fitting

Fuel inlet fitting to line

Braided line

Line to fuel pump fitting

Fuel pump fitting

Re: Fuel line

Not sure what the size is on a stock pump. I ran an edelbrock street mechanical pump on an '84 Z28 back in '94 and used a 3/8 inch pipe to -6AN fitting and it worked just fine. Ran the -6AN hose to an Edelbrock Performer 600 carb using that same type of fitting you linked to.

You will need to run some sealant on the pipe thread side, but the AN side will seal up just fine. I used Teflon paste.

Hope this helps.
