Fuel, I think.

I ran out of gas. I'm an idiot. Now with gas, and fuse checking, and jumping, it wont start. It's an 87, fuel injected. You know that sound of when you turn it to run without cranking-I've always thought it was the fuel pump-it wont make that sound now. Any imput would be great. I wish I had some better news for my first post.

Im willing to bet that the fuel pump burned up. As far as i know, the gasoline surrounding it keeps it cool, and obviously if you drive it until the tank is empti-fied...

I really don't think it plays such a great role. I have run out many times when my gage wasn't working right or I wasn't paying attention and the only reason I replaced the stock pump was that I was changing the tank after 12 years.

I would suspect that it was either a coincidence or the pump was on it's last legs and that pushed it over the edge, if it was the pump.

After it runs out, it is harder to start because the fuel rail must get filled and presurrized again. Check the fuel pressure first.

Take the filter off and turn on the car. If fuel sprays, change filter. If not, try it a few more times and then go for the pump relay and finally the pump in the tank.

Do this outside and try not to smoke.

"First off use your head"
Dude cmon why are you such a jerk? Give growing up a chance man.
And just because you want it to be the filter that is clogged doesnt mean you can stick a "99" percent on it. What the... 99? Are you for real? Recalculate. Sounds like "fuzzy math". You are still in highschool right? Taken algebra?

The fuel pump goes out a lot on these. When you run em dry ( outa gass ) they will burn up quick. When you turn the key on you can easly hear it ( grrrr ) inside the car, and exspecially with your head in the trunk. No sound = Dead pump simple. You checked the Fuse right?

Get the Walbro one. 255 L/hr and it should be fine. Make sure you have a gasket for the fuel tank holder ring and a couple of fuel tank straps. I hope you didn't have too much gas in the tank. It is a PITA without a shop to have it done. You have to drop the rear end.

Just wondering if you changed it and now it works or what did you do to determine that it was bad.

Oh, and I second the Walbro 255. Get it if you haven't changed pumps yet.
