Re: free mods

I'm not sure if it acutally works since we haven't bolted it up to an engine yet, but anyways;

My friend has a 305 in his S-10 and since he was getting new heads, he figured he would try his own porting job. He basically used a head gasket as a template and drew lines around the all the extra metal that was still on the head when the gasket was on.

He took a die grinder to the ports and got them to the size of the ports on the gasket. He smoothed out the intake ports real nice while he roughed up the exhaust ports. It cost him absolutely nothing and it was fairly easy.

Again, we're not sure if it'll work but it's an idea.....

P.S.- If your having trouble understanding what I'm saying just let me know and I'll try to explain it a little better.

Re: free mods

Assuming TPI...

TB bypass
Port plenum (knock that EGR wall down behind TB)
Gasket match intake
! cat (not emissions legal)
! smog pump (need shorter belt, again not emissions legal)
Remove MAF screens
Open up air box to match air filter size
Raise initial timing (~ 10-12* with good fuel, see what works for your car)
Lose weight (car- Maybe you too- j/k)

Cheap stuff...

K&N filters
Low temp thermastat
Quality tune up with ign parts
iat relocation
exh cut out
shift kit
Pulleys
look in classified section for "take offs" some good deals to be had

Don't expect huge gains from these individually, but as a whole they should be noticeable.

Matt

Roughed up the exhaust ports and smoothed out the intake ports? You and your friend need to redo that port job because it's backwards. The exhaust needs to be butter smooth and the intake needs to be a little rough. The roughness in the intake port helps with atomization (mixing of fuel and air) and the smoothness of the exhaust port allows the ecspelled gas to exit quickly without any turbulance.

Sorry, I said it wrong, we did do it the other way. I was typing fast and talking on the phone at the same time so.... No worries.

Re: free mods

to my understanding yes, although i dont see how porting the MAF would do much, but maybe im wrong, and i would hate to mess with the TB just cause if you mess up...your pretty well screwed...
