Found a 92 Z28 5.7

Was looking around today and went to the back of the lot and saw a 92 Z28. It's got the 350 and T-Tops (dealer installed I guess). The paint has a few small nicks in it and the front is scratched up (like most 3rd gens). It's got about 100k miles on it and he's asking $5000. Also it's been wrecked once not totaled, tore up the rubber nose peice but didn't even bend the fender or hood. I think I could possibly get it for $4000-$4500, is it worth that?

Not worth it man.....It's a 5.7 w/ t-tops, as you probably know they didnt come that way....so, before you assume they were dealer installed, do some homework and make sure that it is really a 5.7L. Cause, I went to buy a 91 "5.7" and turns out that the guy didnt know what he was talking about, old guy that thought "if it's a v-8, and from Chevy, must be a 350" and when I caught him in his lie, he was like....oh well....the 350 and the 305 in these cars were the same thing. I Told him to have a good day.

HAHa Rage, its amazing how many people can mistake a 305 for a 350

Anyways..............$5000 sounds really high. But it is a 25th anniversary. Do you know if its the heritage edition??? If not, it really isn't worth that much. You should be able to find a better deal.

But hey, if you really like the car, talk him down. Maybe tell him you could do $4000(maybe even less) or something. Paying $5000 for something with 100k miles and a previus accident sounds really expensive to me. Good luck

$5k for that car is a bit high. I got mine for $4500 with 100k miles but it has never been wrecked and has all the factory options in working condition. Has all kinds of power and still gets 25/26 miles per gallon highway.

The worst part about it is the paint. The idiot who repainted it did a rather botched job. He didn't even paint the headlight pockets or the doorhandles black like they are supposed to be.

Other than that the car is in great shape. The only thing that car burns is tires.

Look at the VIN. IIRC, there should be an '8' in the 8th position for an L98.

I agree, 5 large for what you described is a lot of bean. I would'nt pay that for it. Beat the guy down to 3K and see if he takes it. If it were me though, I'd pass on it and look for a hardtop car with the L98.

JMO.

too high...

I have an 89 RS 5.0 TBI, I picked up w/ 42,000 miles and beautiful stock paint for $3,000. bought it in 9/02. granted the 25th anniversary should help out (its) value but not 5,000, oddly enough my seller was asking 5,000 and 3,000 is what i settled on, also type in the specs to KBB.com and see what the BB is, probably will show you guy's asking way too much.

First off, for the price he is requesting, the car better be in perfect condition.
SEcond, like everyone else said, it either

1) didnt come from the factory with a 350 or 2)didnt come from the factory with t tops.

Either way, I dont trust "dealer installs".

Like they also said, man dont settle. What do you want more, a little more power with a 350, or t tops? Are you going to use that extra from the 350 everyday (unlike me - I drive like a grandpa), or are you going to have the tops off everyday?

True the 350 does have more power than the 305, but dudes I think it would be so much cooler to have a 305 with a stick, and 3.42 gears in the rear, and then later on upgrade to a 6 speed... How sweet would that be. (Obviously if you havnt read by now, the 350 only came with an automatic... but iv heard many times going from auto to 6 speed isnt that hard, but it seems it would be a little easier when a 5 speed is already in its place).
