forged vs hypereutectic pistons
i am building a 383 stroker and when completed will have 500hp and 500 ft lbs of torque but i need to know the pros and cons of forged and hypereutectic pistons and whcih would be better for this engine?
AFAIK, Forged is stronger but expands a little more than hyperutetic pistons. As such, there is a little more clearance required and may rattle when cold. So it went. I never had that problem and mine were forged. Not sure of the truth of the matter but that is what I heard. It is also more expensive.
I do know they are stronger so if you are building that much power. I would not cheap out and get the hyperutetic pistons.

I broke 2 Keith Black hypereutectics in my 400 sbc, so I recommend paying the extra for forged.
Forged come in different alloys. Replacement types (TRW's), expand less, so are run tighter and less likely to rattle. The super dooper $$$ pistons tend to use alloys that expand more, so need more clearance.

hypereutectic don't expand as much because ther made with up to 12% silicon. silicon is high tensiel strength and won't expand under engine temp. conditions.
I don't belive in the shearing strength of the metal ther made with. They are normaly don't bend or streach they just break or shatter.
There also cast like a normal piston.
As far as forged aluminium
there $$$ but worth it.
The Al alloy ones most of the time have magnesium which loves to expand when warmed.
