Red face Flames from under the hood!!!!!

ok so i just got my 82'Z back after not having it for 2 years (it was at my grandparents house) anyway it was recently tuned up and shipped here the the only problem, and it's kinda a big problem, is that it idles REALLY rough and generally stalls unless i keep a little pressure on the gas. Also when i punch it at lower speeds (anything under about 60-70mph) it makes a sputtering/spitting sound and sometimes i get flames shooting out the hood. I don't have a clue what's wrong with it please help. I don't know if it's any help but it's got a 350 duel plane intake and 4bbl carb.

Definitely sounds like your timing is all shot up...maybe the distributor got moved during the tune-up? Break out the timing light and see what the tab reads. Should be about 6-10 degrees base advance...it's a good place to start if nothing else.

don't forget to pull the vaccum tube off the advance canister on the distributor when you time it. at least thats what i've always been told to do.

A flat cam lobe will cause a backfire through the carb as well.
