my 87 iroc has gta rims, they're 16inch rims and the tires are 245/50r16
so they'll fit under any 3rd gen f-body

Heh....I have the WS6 rims (they aren't specific to the GTA) on my '87 Camaro too.

All thirdgen wheels interchange without trouble. Which wheels are on the car in question? You mentioned black on the inside.....

Re: firebird wheel sizes

i dont really know how to explain these wheels, they look like my formula wheels (all silver 16" like these little diaganol spaces i dunno) but they have black on the inside of the spaces. Im not sure if they made them in 16s or not, but I know they ONLY came on the base model firebird. im not interested in GTA or TA or camaro wheels, i know what those are.

No, the base model Firebirds came with the 15X7" N78 "Hi-Tec" turbo wheels. They were introduced on the 1984 Trans Am. The only Firebird to come with 16X8" wheels were the Formulas.

Re: firebird wheel sizes

Actually there was an option of a 16" wheel in 84 for the s/e and the transam also. They are basically the same design as the newer formula 16's but they are convex, as oppsoed to the Formula's concave design. If they have a flat, small center cap that is installed from the back, they are the older 16 option. If they have the larger centercap protruding from the wheel, they are the newer Formula wheels.
But, I believe 84l69ta is correct about the factory 15x7's. I think some people call them the 20 slot (finger) wheel.

TA's up until 87 could also be optioned with the "convex" wheels as well as 87 formulas. 91-92 formy's could be optioned with the crosslaces wheels if it came with 350 and t-tops. With the age of the car the wheels could easily have been changed but if it's a base model it didn't come with 16's from the factory.

Re: firebird wheel sizes

Actually, the only 84 TA that could be had with 16" wheels was the 15th Anniversary Trans Am. They had 16X8" convex wheels, and were white in color. The 1985 Trans Am introduced the silver convex turbo wheels that you are referring to. Other than that, all 1984 Trans Ams had 15X7" wheels.
