Alright, heres the deal... Just yesterday i got a 1987 IROC 350 tpi. It use to be my sisters but for the last two years it has been at a body shop trying to be sold (not sure why it was there but thats my sister for ya.) While it was there they said they started it up once in a while. they never really drove it though, just very rarely and only maybe 100 feet from the lot to the actual shop. just yesterday i convinced her to let me have it for a while. so my questions are since it has been sitting for a while what are some of the first things i should check? also, sometimes, out of the blue, when i am idling it will all of the sudden die on me but then it will start right back up... any thoughts on what that could be? thanx in advance

 

do the obvious

cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, oil

wouldn't hurt to do the trans and diff fluid so you know they are good, as well as a radiator flush.


you'll have to describe the stalling issue more to get a better idea of the possible cause. does it surge then die? misfire? any SES lights?

 

ok yeah sounds like everything i was thinking... i just wanted to make sure i wasnt missing anything. and as for the stalling issue, it does surge a little bit and then die. and the SES light dosent go on. it hasnt done it yet when the engine is cold so it seems to be only when warmed up. the only other time it has stalled is one time when i put it in reverse it died, put for that time it didnt surge at all. i know its not much information but any suggestions at all would be appreciated. thanx again
