Feedback to Edelbrock carb

my friend has a 86 305 camaro and he changed his feedback carb to a normal edelbrock carb and now he isn't getting any spark, I haven't looked at his car yet, but any tips would be great.

Is there power at the coil? Did he switch to a mechanical HEI? You didn't leave much info to help you with.

i don't think he has a mechanical dist. , thats what i told him he would need, i think he bought the same one as the stock one.
no power to the coil either.
