Wink Re: fan question

*you may know this.. i thought i would mention it however*

First off, is it keeping cool while driving? if it is your thermostat is good and the coolant is running through the motor properly.

there is a relay at the back right hand side of your engine bay. if you are standing at the front and looking towards the car. if you pop the cover off. you can manually press the top together. if the fan doesn't come on. there is a wire burnt out along the way. if it does. your sensor may be broken or a wire to it may be burnt out.

Located on the firewall in the engine compartment, just behind the brake power booster on the drivers side.

here is a pic of what it looks like

the temp switch is located on the passenger side of the engine i think its between 6 and 8 plug. i could be wrong. but its definatly on the passenger side.check the wires with a voltimeter. run the cable from one side to the other and make sure you are connected properly.

was this working before? or are u rebuilding it and ran into this problem?

if it becomes a bigger problem down the road you can buy a cooling fan wiring and sensor from jegs and also ecklers camaro. for i think its 80 bucks american and it works like a charm. you can even get one that will turn on at a lower temp to keep the tempature down

hope this helps

Re: fan question

i finally lost my stock fan after 16 years and 200,000 miles. motor went out on it. could be a good time to find a z28 or iroc w/ a dual fan setup.

Spal dual 11" setup. Expensive, but the best I found, and all I could get that will keep my GTA cool even with a BeCool radiator and Flowkooler pump....
