Factory Fuel Pressure

on an 87 TPI motor, what is the factory fuel pressure supposed to be set at? The guy i purchased this car from did everything right, except got cheap on injectors and a chip. He used the factory 305 injectors and bumped up the fuel pressure. I'd like to get 24 or 26lb injectors and put the pressure back to where it should be. Where can I find the regulator and what does it look like? Thanks in advance.

The correct injector for that engine should be a 22lb/hr. The factory fuel pressure (base) should be 42lbs and should come up to 45lbs with the vacuum regulator unhooked.

It's on the rear of the fuel rail, kinda like a little "hat"or "bell' and an adjustable one will have a hex screw and lock nut coming out of the middle of it..You might have to remove the cover plate near the distributor, if it's still there

Bigger injectors will not be good unless you have a chip burnt for it. Otherwise it will run rich because the ECM still thinks you have the stock injectors. 305 injectors are 19 pph ones and 350s are 22 pph.

Find yourself someone who will make the chip while the car is running. Don't bother with an off the shelf one. When I get one burnt at LPE, John would take the readings, burn the chip, take more readings and so on till it is done. I got www.fasterproms.com to do mine and they burnt it, I took readings and emailed it to them, they sent me another chip and so on till it was done. The initial burn can be done over the phone but the fine tuning has to be done with readings from the ECM. No one is that good to do it once and get it 100% right.

I borrowed their software and cables and installed the software into my laptop. It goes by the name Diacom and it is made by Rinda Technologies.
