exhaust rapping on my subframe connector
exhaust rapping on my subframe connector
so i put the exhaust all back together before i finished the passanger weld on connector, it woould not fit because of the exhaust, so it is square tube steel and i cut it in 1/2 and taper her up and into the front, now they are tight.
single pipe exhaust 3"
so i hit the gas and my exhaust hits my connector
i thought i would heat up the exhaust and beat it back a quarter inch and see if that works
any other idea

Re: exhaust rapping on my subframe connector
you have the right idea i was at the performance shop and the guy told me you have to bend your pipe to get the connectors to fit were im from theres i guy that doese custom frame connectors they fit good and no f'''''' around exhaust good luck
a little heat and a hammer go a long way

Re: exhaust rapping on my subframe connector
Heat the pipe on the side farthest away from you SBC about halfway around and a section about three to four inches long,on the pipe just before where it come alongside of the connector both front and back. When its nice and Cherry red quench it with a really wet rag. It will move out from your connector. You may have to do a little longer section, but it will move and you won't bend it out of shape tring to hit it with a hammer. Don't be tempted to heat the whole pipe just halfway around (cherry red)and quench.

that is the side of the exhaust that is farthest away from subconn and heat exhaust 1/2 way around about 3" each side of and hit with wet rag. i have eliminated alot of the noise but still a little i will try this idea.
