Exhaust Question!!

Alright i'm dropping in a ls1 into my 91 camaro, and i'm planning on getting some long tube headers for them(hooker cut to fit ls1 flanges) and i'm wondering if you guiys could help me out with some ideas on how to set up the rest of the exhaust. The problem is i'm running a spohn x-member and i know people have had problems running exhuast with it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated or somone who has done this.

thanks
Justin

Re: Exhaust Question!!

dont really consider my 305 modded much, just has headers and few other odds and ends, prolly wouldn't put any more then 230 to the ground. The stock rearend will hold 350hp fine as long as you dont use like slicks. As for the tranny the t5 is weak but not that weak.

Re: Exhaust Question!!

t-5 behind an LS1 thats a disaster waitin to happen..and yes they are week, they can handle about 300 crank HP, the ls1 is 305 to the ground, so about 350 crank...so if you plan on beatin it a bit, you'll just be swappin out that tranny fairly quick...theres tons of info out on this, you'll need to buy all the motor mount conversions and everything too...its about 500 bucks just in parts for convertin it...

Re: Exhaust Question!!

Well this post got a little off subject but all well, but anyways no i'm not using a t5 on my ls1 that would be pretty dumb. I have a T56 with a ram powergrip clutch waiting to go behind it. I thought that guy was talking about a t5 behind my "modded" 305, all well. I also have read up on this topic a lot. Got a tubular k-member to go with it, sending the harness off to speartech to get modified, katech rod bolts, conversion x-member, etc. But thanks for looking out cause there are people that do buy things with out reading up on it. I was just trying to figure out how to run my exhaust with LT and a spohn TA, since i know it is a little tough to get a y-pipe around that x-member.

Thanks
Justin

Re: Exhaust Question!!

^Ya, i *did* mean your modded 305, not the LS1, lol. I *know* that a T5 wont hold a LS1 w/out popping

Re: Exhaust Question!!

haha yea thats what i thought you meant all well, but anyways back to the subject. Dont need to worry about the headers or the y-pipe anymore hawks just came out today with LT headers(stainless steel) and a y-pipe made to fit a 3rd gen with the spohn tq arm and lowered with sportlines. So dont need to worry about that any more cause i'll just ordered those now(that made my day).

Thanks
Justin
