Exhaust Question
Exhaust Question
I'm gonna put an exhaust system on my maro before summer, but funds are real low, and I have 2 glasspacks that I bought for my old car, but I totalled that car, so know I want to put those to use...The in/out dimameter is 2"...the car has headers already, so i was thinking if I just went from the headers to the glass packs like duals, then after the glass packs, put a Y so it joins into a 3 inch pipe, then goes back to the tailpipes...Can I run 2 pipes back there? One of friends has a camaro too, and he said there isn't enough room under the rear axle to get 2 pipes, he said you have to run a single 3", is this true? Is 2" glass packs big enough? I will also be putting in a custom H pipe in there somewhere too....Would it help to maybe run 2.5" pipe and then use reducers to go into the mufflers, would that make a difference or no?
here`s TWO 3 inch pipes going over the axle

dude that is awesome...I was just going on what I heard because I dont' ahve my camaro yet, I gotta go pick it up in a couple of days....So what do you suggest I do? I need to know:
1. Should I even waste my time with dual 2" glass packs
2. If yes to #1, should I run 2.5 inch pipe, and then use reducers?
3. Should I use a custom H pipe, I hear it will help the flow and equal out differences in pressure.
thanks for your input...

Hey Greezemonkey, thats awesome.
Do you have anysoundbytes or anything?
I bet it sounds better than it looks.
Does it sound kinda like a Mustang?, and when I say mustang, does it have that dual rumble sound instead of our normal all in one pipe sound??

I had a twin dual system that was two 2.5 pipes for the small blocks. It wa similar to this system, it hooked to the headers and one pipe went by the trans on either side, then they came together behind the trans and followed the stock routing over the axle and the split and went to either side and exited like a vette exhaust just like this one. I`ve added a crossover tube to this system right behind the trans, It was as loud as two mustangs before the crossover pipe. All that stuff is homemade, no bender, just elbows and a sawzal and a welder. Sorry no sound bites yet, no one has shown me how to do it yet.
greezemonkey, you sound like yoru pretty kmowledible on exhaust...what do you think I should do with mine? I want to put those glasspacks to use, because a friend of mine has them, and they sound good...they are hiquality glass packs, not the cheap ones...My mom has them on her denali too, and they sound amazing, better than any flowmaster I heard around here...I need some ideas on how big of pipe, tips, etc, i just dont' want to put it on and have it sound like crap.
