everybody says to do it but how hard is it really?

i have a 1986 305 tpi car and my dads friend has a freshly rebuilt 350 that he wants to sell. He wants $700.00 bucks for it. my first question is that is it worth 700 bucks? will the tpi intake manifold bolt up to the new motor? and what else will needed to be changed besides bigger injectors and a different computer chip?
what size injecters will i need to use also?
Will i need a bigger fuel pump?
thanks,
Chris

Rebuilt by whom? Joe Schmoe in his garage doesn't impress me that much. What parts? Is it sleeved or did they use larger pistons? Is it properly balanced? Seems awful cheap to me. Wonder why?

You will need a different EPROM and 22pph injectors. Pump should be the same

i will have to find out who bored the motor and the type of pistons and so forth. i was just told by my dad that his buddy had one that he wanted to get rid of due to him buying a 454, so i will find out and post later.

u need to find out what year the motor (or the heads atleast) b/c the angle was different on 86 and earlier heads i believe it was. as for the chip,u wont need 1 for it to run. i did a 350 swap on my originally 305 IROC and it ran fine w/ the 305 chip. now,it prob would run alot better w/ a decent 350 chip in it..but F it,im goin carb soon anyway...

swap

Yeah, check it out, who knows why he's selling, still could be a good deal.

The 350 requires 22# of fuel pressure/hr @43.5psi
If it's a MAF engine then the ECM will adjust the injector pulse width to flow more fuel for the extra air that the 350 will suck in vs. 305, if you don't go fast most of the time it won't matter, so what's the use of swapping to a 350?

The more time you spend going fast the faster the 19# injector will over heating because it being pushed past its 80% duty cycle limit.

If you raise the fuel pressure to 58psi the 19# will flow 22# with the 305 programmed flow injector rate.

And if you raise the fuel pressure that much, can you be sure that the motor needs that much fuel throughout the band? It might be ok at WOT but at idle or midrange, it might be way too rich. Better get the right injectors the first time
