Error Code: 43

I already replaced the rotor, the cap was still in good shape. Do I need to replace the distributor itself? I am still using my old wires, though I dont think this would cause an error that relates to the distributor.

Code 43 is Knock Sensor (KS) or Electronic Spark Control (ESC) circuit fault

I was reading in my Haynes and Chitlins(Chiltons) books and they describe the ESC as being part of the distributor. My dad told me he had a big issue with the ignition module on his fiero so I think I will start there. Autozone has a way of testing this module to see if its a problem child or not. I didnt think of the error code meaning a problem with the knock sensor, I will have to take a look into that one.

Hey, we had this one:

We ended up replacing the whole ignition system since it was tripping a few other codes. New cap/rotor/HEI module/& coil and we're back in business.

The 305 is still slow though

I sure I dont have to go that far.

Though I would like to replace my POS 3.1l v6 for a nice v8. Prolly go for a used 350 and have it rebuilt.
