What do you mean by "hook your car up" are u talking about traction? Or engine work?

If its traction, well easy, go get some control arms, torque arm..

If its engine work, well........shoot the 305 right through the block and buy a 350 or an lt1....the converstion (if dont right and smart) will cost $3k....very good investment btw...

If you dont have the money then just do small stuff. Put an l98 cam in your 305. Thats a nice mod if you dont mind tearing apart your engine. Port your plenum (do it yourself) maybe an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (only after you do some performance work) delete the cat if you dont mind the non emissions legeal ****. Get a different muffler. Those are just some small things right now but ill tell you more and get in detail once im clear on what your asking.

i wanted to build the engine up a little more. The engine i have now only has about 86000 miles on it. I dont want to spend to much money on it. I just wanted to do a couple things to it that would make it a little bit faster. The guy i bought the car off just put a brand new exhaust on it but it doesnt even sound loud at all, it just sounds like a normal car. Is there anything that i can do to the exhaust to make it louder or should i just leave it the way it is?

The sound of the car depends on what you want. Do you want it loud? Well if you go with an aftermarket exhaust your car would normally gain some power. Since you have a 305 im not exactly sure on how much power you will gain out of these mods but you will gain some power. First off i would get a flowmaster, hooker, or dynomax muffler (which ever one you prefer). Maybe delete the cat if emissions isnt a problem for you Once that is attended to i would go with some headers. If you have enough money i would just do all of the exhaust at one time rather then peice it together. Once that is in order you could always do some free mods, such as removing the maf screens, this mod doesnt gain to much but oh well, its free. You can gut your air box(saw off the baffles and the box underneith the air filters). Anther little mod is the Air Foil, its about $50 new from summit. Thats a nice little gain. Thats about it for the little things. If you have a porting bit i would take the plenum off and port the **** out of it. Then i would look into some aftermarket runners and base. Those pieces right there will gain the most power out of really anything. Like i said, im not exactly sure on the power out put of the 305 and these mods so i dont know first hand. All i can tell you is maybe get some good bolt ons. I would say maybe just save the money you have for a 350. There is no replacement for displacement........the lt1 is really nice makes great power and has great potential for making a lot of power. Good luck...let us know what else you need.

Heads and Cam will wake up that 305.
Also headers and full 3" exhaust.
Here's a vid of my 305. It started out as a 155hp carbed LG4.
I put a TPI setup, cam, slightly better heads, headers, 3" exhaust, dual cold air intake, 52mm TB, MSD 6A & Blaster 3 coil.

as far as free mods, timing is a good one. stock advance is 6* so if you bump it up to 8* or 10* you should notice a difference.
