I just introduced myself in another thread but if you werent able to catch that one I have a 1991 Camaro RS with a 305.It has flowmaster,hypertech chip and an open element air filter.

Now my question.When I converted from a stock air filter assembly to an open element air filter I gained a knock from 60-65 or when im cruising and it gets dropped into a lower gear.It also diesels from time to time.I gained alot of performance from doing this and i dont wanna go back to the stock air filter.Has anyone encountered this problem?All and any info willhelp

 

Sounds like it is running lean. Take out the chip and put the stock one back. If the ping stops, get a truely custom one and spend the money doing it instead of something that came off some one's shelf as a One size Fits All. BTW, you have eliminated all other sources such as a vacuum leak and too advanced base timing, fuel filter and pump and FPR?
