Re: Engine code
The engine code is going to be on the block right below the passenger head, its going to be hard to see with all the accesories on the motor. Not to mention more often than not they are obscured by grease, or something anyway. ANd have to he pretty harshly cleaned in order to be read. But it is there
Re: Engine code
Different codes are on the engine. If the block is new enough it will have 5.0L or 5.7L cast into the side of it. Looking down on the block behind the drivers head will find the block casting number. That can at least tell you what kind of block it is.
The best numbers you can find are the suffix numbers. They'll be stamped into the top of the deck right in front of the passenger head. If the block has ever been decked, the numbers will be gone. They're usually very hard to see since they're usually covered in grease, dirt or paint. Your going to find something like CVN01031987 or some other combination like that. With that number you can pretty well tell exactly what the engine came out of and when it was made.
