Re: Engine Buildup questions

If you are goint that route, why not just go with a Holley Stealth Ram setup with all the pieces in it? That includes your fuel pump, KS, TPS, harness, etc

Re: Engine Buildup questions

Let me help you out.
I built a 345hp tbi motor in my old car.
What I did:
I used a 350 tpi block (L98) from a 1989 iroc. You want to use a 88 or newer block because they are roller blocks
Ported heads remachined the valve spring purches to fit high lift springs
Manley stainless valves
Lt4 hot cam
1.6 roller rockers
trw pistons I had 9:8to1 compression good enough to still use 89 sometimes
bored 30 over
slp headers
454 tbi unit with matched injectors from turbo city
tpi fuel pump form the auto parts store only 65 bucks
edlebrock intake (had to have the tbi holes bored to 2" holes to fit the 2" holes of the 454 tbi unit)
Injector spacer
custom burnt prom with just the spark curve and fuel messed with
I set my timing at 4 degrees advanced
350 knock sensor
My car passed california emissions perfectly
Sorry to say my car was totaled by a drunk driver while it was parked out front. It ran a 13.74 @100 with a 1.8 60'
The motor now with a tpi system on it sits in my 1989 trans am with a 50 shot of Nos on it. It ran a 12.6 @108 so she is a great runner hope that helps you out

Re: Engine Buildup questions

Wow! I'm pretty impressed with that TBI set-up. Most people don't get that far. Do you mind if I ask how your HP was measured (flywheel, at the wheels, or desktop dyno)?

Re: Engine Buildup questions

Thats awesome man. I am looking for a list just like that. The biggest part of that is passing emissions and I see that you did. High 13's sound great as well. Thanks a lot!!

Re: Engine Buildup questions

that was rwhp done on a dyno it pulled 344.6 hp with 391 torque. I used a 1992 knock sensor since my car was a 1992 rs. Yes a 88 or newer block from a f-body is roller but from a truck its a roller block but a flat tappet cam was used instead dont ask me why gm did this

Re: Engine Buildup questions

Now if you have a 350 block with a 400 crank that makes a 383 right? So what does it become if you have the 350 block bored out .030"? .040" over.

My 88' IROC TPI has a Motown 350/4-bolt main race block bored 0.60" over (max for factory other than race is 0.030" over) has 3.75" Scat crank & 6.00" conrods with SRP forged alum. -16cc dished flat top pistons x 1.25" piston height, zero deck height, 0.041" x 4.155" bore head gaskets, GMPP fast burn alum 62c heads which calculates to 388/6.4Liter.
