electric water pump for 89 Iroc

Has anyone installed an electric water pump on a 350TPI in a 89' Iroc? If so, what brand name do you suggest and what other mods besides a shorter belt did you have to make? Thanks,

Ben

Why? I would never do it because I could not trust the electric ones for street use. Failure could be bad.

Good idea, just think about the power gains & drains you will have on that street car.

only problem i see w/ the electric pump is the failure rate people are having right now... do a search... they are definately not seeing the hours that the company's claim... plus if the electric one goes out then you are SOL... and w/ the mechanical then you can at least limp home...

My friend put one on his 88 IROC. I think the 88 and 89 use the same belt set up. I am not sure exactly what he did, but I think he just used a shorter belt. I know he didn't have to do anything major so it can be done. Just FYI, I have had an electric WP (CSI) on my car for over a year and have had no problems. Just make sure your wiring is good. I would go electric again if I had it to do over. This is my only car and until recently, I had a 120 mile commute to work! At first I was glued to the temp gauge, but know I rairly think about it. Of course, my commute is only 1.5 miles now, so even if it failed, I may not notice!!
