Edelbrock TPI

Anyone have any opinions on the edelbrock TPI. MY friend wants to put it on his 305 LB9 5 speed car. He is tired of the stock car losing hp past 4400 rpms. Will it really give 20 hp over stock? Can it pull past 5500 rpms? What about the top part? Does it need any work from them? How much better does it flow. For 700 bucks, u wonder lol.

Re: Edelbrock TPI

The StealthRam on a 305 is overkill......the edelbrock TPI base and components would be a better choice. However, the reason is stops pulling around 4400 the cam unless it is not stock....then it would be the intake system.

I've got the HSR on a 305, as well as a few other. I agree that it is overkill but it's a million times better than the stock-style long tube runner. IMO.

Yea, I got the HSR on my 383....its a nice design and seems to fit well with my 383 components.....but if you have a stock car then I wouldn't put it on a 305.

Re: Edelbrock TPI

We cant put the Stealth Ram on our cars in CA, because it doesnt have a passage for EGR.
The aftermarket long tube runner TPI intakes like Edelbrock or Acell are better than stock pieces, but they will wont let the engine make power above 5500 rpms. You need an Accel SuperRam to have a chance. Even my SLP siamesed runners make max power at 5100, but dont really fall off until 5500.

not in CA, you have to block off the EGR to fit a distributor

Re: Edelbrock TPI

I've seen SuperRams max out anywhere from 5000 to 6000 depending on heads and cam. Tell your friend, if he's from SoCal too, to head over to our SoCal Thirdgen group at http://www.sc3g.org/ We can help him spend his money the best way.

Is the HSR smog legal in California? If not what would be the best intake and still be legal?
Thanks

Re: Edelbrock TPI

How bout a TPIS set-up.

http://www.tpis.com/index.php?module...niRam+Manifold

I think it may be a bit to much for a 305.

My friend, I answered both your questions in my post. I guess you missed it. The Accel SuperRam setup is the best smog legal TPI intake, but its also the most difficult and complicated to install.

Again, the TPIS MiniRam is not smog legal for CA as it doesnt have an EGR setup. Arent you guys reading?
