Typically, you ground one side of the sending unit, run 12v to the gauge and then run a lead from the gauge to the sending unit (not the grounded side).

What type of gauge are you using or did you just want general info?

Cheers!!!

ok. Sorry if I'm being a bit slow here but I take it you get a sender unit with the gauge, so how does that sender unit read the fuel pressure?. Where does that connect to?.
No, have not got one ( I have got one that screws into the test port on the fuel rail which I use). Just something else on the ' to do' list . Thanks.

How does it work? Simple. The sender has a small orifice in which the fuel is allowed to enter. There is a small diaphragm that the fuel pushes against. The sender then then sends the electrical resistance set by the diaphragm position. The gauge interprets the resistance as a certain pressure.

Where does it connect? For a fuel injected engine like yours you can use the schraeder valve on the fuel rail. Some put it at the pressure regulator, and others tap into the fuel line itself. Where you put it is up to the design.

Well, the unit I have is 3 pieces.

You have the gauge, the sender and a box that goes between the sender and the gauge.

Sender sends a signal to the box, box converts the signal for the gauge and the gauge displays the psi.
