Re: Dynomax mufflers
LS1sounds is a good site, but unless he can find a traditional small block car on there, it's not going to give a good indication of the sound. LS1's (imho) sound very different from a standard sbc.

Re: Dynomax mufflers
my buddy has that setup on his camaro...its really quite at idle..but when you get on it, it kinda comes to life...but its nothin special IMO...i would look for something differenent, i'm not too impressed with the setup..
Re: Dynomax mufflers
Ah yes, I forgot about ls1sounds.. but then again, as Justin said LS1's sound totally different, in my opinion. I went to dynomax's website, the Stange 5.0 sounded AWESOME.. and so did the 4.6.
Sorry teke, wnat the whole cat-back.
Klumb; you don't thiknk that it is very deep sounding or very loud?

Re: Dynomax mufflers
If you want loud,it's NOT. It's throater than stock kind of like the '99 in the clip, but not as loud as that when you get on it it does light up. I like it,but I'm not into loud as when I take my car out it is ussually for long roadtrips.
Re: Dynomax mufflers
i don't think its loud at all...it lets people know you got some power, just cuz it makes more noise than stock. But to me it just sounds like any other car. I would rather have something that somebody is gonna hear ahead of time, then wait for me to pass by...but i'm young, and thats just my taste..if your looking for something that will bark a little bit when you crack on it, it might be the way to go, but if you want something loud, or something different from the others, I would look elsewhere...but like i said, it all comes down to your own taste and preferences...and yes LS1 and LT1 exhausts sound way different than a TPI car..

(I'd MUCH rather see a shocked look on someone's face when a quiet, tame-looking 3rd-gen blows 'em into the weeds than to cruise around like Ricky Ricer with a loud exhaust note...)

Which is not to say that it's totally "docile" by any means - a friend of mine with a 454-powered shortbed Chevy has been known to "accidentally"
set off car alarms in parking garages...
And on the plus side, you attract a lot less attention - whether from ricers, or "official ticket-writing types" - with a quieter exhaust.

Also, a lot depends on where your exhaust exits - from the outside of my car, it sounds fairly tame, but (because I really like the "sleeper" look), I had them cut the exhaust off at an angle where you really can't see my exhaust, so my floorpan/gas tank/etc. transmit a bit more noise into the car. For a "weekend cruiser", this is a perfectly acceptable tradeoff for me, but if it were my daily driver, I might look into Dynamat or something similar.

on suspention for thoughs mountain twisties. T's off and cruising them back roads were alot of fun and the Dynomax was just pleasent sounds in the wind, with just enough rasp on down shift to give a pleasent bark. Good Luck on your cruise maybe one day our roads will cross.

I had to make a last-minute trip to L.A. to cover for a co-worker's vacation (the guy who was originally scheduled to do that got himself bummed up). I actually thought about trying to meet someone from the SoCal area, but when I tried the same thing for a Texas trip, no-one responded so I said screw it...
Alternatively, one day you might find yourself headed toward the Rocky Mountains... We've got a few nice drives up here too..
