Dyno results, a little dissapointed.
Dyno results, a little dissapointed.
Dyno results, I am a little dissapointed.
Here is the engine:
383 stroker.
Eagle forged 4340 crank, Weisco flat top pistons, Eagle forged rods, Internally balanced.
WP Torquer Heads (72cc chamber, 170cc runners, 2.02/1.60 valves)
GM LT4 Hotcam (.525/.525", 112 LSA, 218/224 duration)
GM roller rockers, 1.6's
March underdrive pulley set
BBK 52mm tb
SVO 30lb injectors
MSD coil
TPiS Miniram intake
MSD distributor
Edelbrock shorty headers
No cat
Flowmaster 3" exhaust
PCMFORLESS Tune
Ask me if yo udon't see something significant...
Dyno results:
280 rwhp
400.7 rwtq
That horsepower number seems real low. I knew my head and cam where small for the enigine, I din't hink they would be that small?? What do you guys think

Heads heads heads heads!!
A decent set heads will really wake things up, OR those WPs have a ton of porting potential. They've got a lot of material to play with. Pull them off and find a good machine shop that's experienced with those heads. Out of the box they only flow around 210/140 @ .050" I believe. I've seen intakes afterwards up around 255cfm with a still reasonable size port. That would complement the rest of the combo well. Should easily add another 40-50+ to the wheels.
PS - Those Edelbrock shorties aren't the most effecient things either. But the rest looks OK.

Hum.. the Hp and Tq looks like you still have the stock intake or stock intake style on the car.. Was this with the miniram?
If you ahve AFR charts or somethign I can look over the tune to see if we can pick you out anymore.

Re: Dyno results, a little dissapointed.
Every buildup I've read using the torquer heads was a bust. Writers usually do the old "by the time you rebuild your stock heads" justification for the torquers. Problem is they don't seem to flow much better than stock smoggers.
Re: Dyno results, a little dissapointed.
Yea, I would say the numbers are low.
I put down 288/363 with SLP runners(ported) along with ported upper/lower intakes.
Mine is just a 11.5, 355, with ported L-98 Vetter heads, forged bottom end, 2.02/1.60, Accel Ignition, Coil, Same headers, Had a bullet on there(now SLP 2OTL)Same cam, but 1.5 rockers, underdrive pulleys, 24# Accel's, Cutout open before cat.I ad a real tune on mine.Alot of time with part throttle, WOT, and even some time on the dyno.
Where are you located?

Re: Dyno results, a little dissapointed.
Well I agree those numbers are off, and the heads are small, but you also have a fairly small cam too. How does the tune look? Mail order tunes have a tendancy to be conservative....

Re: Dyno results, a little dissapointed.
those heads dont flow for sh*t and the intake runner size isnt helping much either, might be fine for a 350 but if you have the cash id bump it up to a 195cc head *cough afr cough* at the very least, if it were me id actually get the 210s. Cam is too small if you wanna keep it streetable id say your still fine with a cam in the high 230 low 240 range duration @.050 Just my thoughts. Donno the compression of ur motor tho or gearing so hard to choose a cam
Re: Dyno results, a little dissapointed.
Its your heads guaranteed. 170cc intake runners are only a whopping 7cc's bigger than your stock 163cc heads that flowed 193cfm intake side. Also, with a 72cc chamber I can't imagine that you have compression much above 9.5. And your cam is small-ish for a 383 but should be more than enough to do the job. And it gives you somthing to upgrade later.
Also, get rid of the flowcrapper exhaust. Reportedly it flows like crap. Or get a cutout. I like your torque numbers.
