Drag co efficiency

Does anyone knows what is the Drag

co efficiency for 3rd gen Camaro?

Also what is an average weight of a 1988 Camaro just the body and not engine

Thanks!

If I remember correcty the Coefficient of Drag on 3rd Gen Car was about .30/.32. Never seen a cars weight asked that way, just subtract about 500 lbs from the total weight for a estimate.

I use 0.33 with Drag2000. Firebirds might be 0.31

Firebirds range from .299-.32.
Camaros should be higher than .32 since you have the exposed headlights and air intake.

Firebirds
.299 - 82-83 T/A's without GFX, and all firebirds without GFX (think KITT)
.320 - 84-90 Trans Am's
.340 - Headlights up....
.330 - 91/92 All models

All Firebirds and Camaro's have a frontal square area of 22ft^2

A smallblock chevy dressed with all accesories is about 550lb/s from what I understand.

The T-5 transmission is about 120lbs I think. However the clutch assembly and hydrolics adds another 20lbs I believe.

Typical 700r4 is about 170lbs with fluids and torque converter. I can lift a loaded 700r4 with mild difficulty to move it around. Don't ask me to carry it to the neighboors though!

I didn't get that info any one place. Its what I've gathered from GM's brochures, as well as other media.

I think the T5 is 98 lbs. That is the number I got when I was doing my T5 swap in a 3rd gen (before T56's were readily available). But, either number is probably close enough.

Dry T5 itself is 85lbs. I shipped my old one to a guy down south.

I must have over-crated mine. I think my shipping weight was 104 lbs (I sold it to a guy in NY).

That is quite possible, I was sure that 120 was too high, but 85 may be correct, I may be a little off.

Re: Drag co efficiency

Thats why I added a qualifier to my post. I wasn't sure because I really haven't done to much work with a T-5 transmission. Most of my expereince has been with 700r4 trannies.

If you say they are about 100lbs then I agree with your statement.
