Ive done shorties on a 88 TA with TPI. It wasnt too bad. Took me 2 days by myslelf. I didnt have to jack up the motor to do it either. They slipped in pretty easily. However on my IROC i put long tubes in. You must lift the motor partially out to do it. I had to wiggle them into place and then drop the motor down and wahalah. Good luck, LT's are a pain. As for your exhaust leak, my buddy had a hole in his exhaust manifold and he filled it with JB weld. Its available at your local hardware store and it hasnt given him any trouble since.

I put the SLP ones in without any removal except that I had the AIR system removed previously.

i just put edelbrock shorties on a few weeks ago and pass side no problems drivers side haha loosen the steering shaft at the fire wall and they should slide in after a little wiggling them around. Pull the plugs and get wire looms so you dont fry your wires.
