Do I need new valve seals?
Do I need new valve seals?
Generally when a car needs new valve seals it smokes a good amount n warm-up and start-up right? Well my problem is not on warm up or start-up, but only at high rpm's. Basiacally when I rev the car up real high, it'll start to smoke a lot and then when I let off it'll smoke a decent amount for the next minute or 2 and then it'll go back to normal. Does this sound like valve seals to you, or is it possibly something else?
Re: Do I need new valve seals?
SBC's are know for pumping a lot of oil into the valve covers at high rpm's. If the drain back holes are a little clogged, and some times even when they're perfectly fine, they will fell with enough oil to be picked up by the PVC, and dumped straight into the intake. It when takes some time for this oil to be washed out, which is why it still smokes after you back off. Next time check the PVC hose, it should NOT be dripping oil when you disconnect it.
Re: Do I need new valve seals?
I'll check the hose later on today, however, the other day when I pulled my PCV out it was just fine it was pretty much dry. This is the whole PCV vlave keep in mind, shuold I try just the hose?
Re: Do I need new valve seals?
I mean, when you pull the PVC hose off the carb. or intake fitting it usually dumps a puddle of oil on the engine.
To check the drain back holes you have to pull the valve covers, but I wouldn't go there yet.
If your loosing this much fluid, it should show. Are you having to add oil? What about coolant???
