do 3rd gens have frames
I have a dumbass friend who says that his 91 firebird does not have a frame?! I'im gonna get an xbox game after you guys enlighten this moron, for lack of a better word. So flame away.
They do have frames but not in the traditional term. First and second gen's had a bolt-on front subframe that was built like a traditional frame and bolted onto the unibody.
The third gen frame is more made from sheet metal and spot welded to the unibody. The rear subframe is more of a boxed bracing for the rear floor but it is still called a rear subframe.
So in the true sense of the term, no a third gen does not have a frame. It has subframes that are incorporated into the entire unibody structure of the car. They cannot be removed like first and second gens without fabricating a new frame structure (tube chassis).
