i just want to clean up the engine bay,and it looks like it had a vaccum line to it, but im not sure where it goes to. i just got this car,and it is a wiring mess. so im trying to clean everything up. also, it would just be 1 thing less to worry about.

yes you need it. if you yank it you will have consistant heat in your car at all times. if you notice when driving you have air flow at your feet area, this is GM's "fresh air" system. if you delete the D valve it lets hot coolant consistantly flow.

the vac line is the hard plstic kind that comes out with the harness by the dizzy. there might be 2 lines. one goes to the intake and the other goes to the D valve.

you need a vac source from the motor on 1 line and the other line goes back out to the D valve. if your asking will any vac source work to supply vac to the HVAC controls, yes is the answer.

alright, thanks alot. i did find the lines, im not sure which is which, but i assume either will work. but anyways ill change them around, the guy i bought it off of had one going to the intake itself, and the other to the carb. "not sure why" but like i said, just trying to get this thing figured out,and get it right. anyways thanks again for all your help, its been great.

glad i could help. if your lines are lopped of or broken, small rubber vac line can be used to replace the tiny factory plastic lines.
as for which is which, generally the longer one is the one that goes to the D valve and the other goes to the source of vac unless yours haew been broken off. if ya need the fitting that goes on the D valve let me know, i have a few here.
