difference between v6 and v8 models?

i'm thinking of buying a v6, then swapping in a v8. i'll probably put a new tranny in too, but what are some of the other differences? are v6 rear ends smaller? what else would be different?

if you want a car to do a tranny and engine swap... get yourself a 305 5 speed iroc-z. you can get those for about $1000-1500 in OK condition (you dont need it to be in great condition if your gonna swap out the tranny and the engine). only thing is... most ppl who think of an engine swap dont go through with it because it involves $$$ if you can't do it yourself. but if you have the means to do it, then seriously get yourself a 305 5speed, drop in a built engine and a t-56 to replace that t-5. make sure you get the G92 option on the iroc though, thats a performance package that gives you better gears, dual cats (more power), and it gives the 305 the same cam the 350 L98 has so you aren't THAT slow while you're still stock

it won't be too expensive. i plan to do it all myself. the engine i'm gonna build is gonna be from mostly used parts, and i'm gonna aim for 350+ hp, with the help of pocket porting and such. its gonna be my senior project. i'm gonna do an internship at a shop, and then i expect they'll let me use the shop for me engine build.

niceee stick with a 305 5/speed if you want to go manual and just swap everything out later... or you could go 305 auto, swap the engine and stick in a built tranny with a niceee 2400 stall torque converter

If you are going to build a motor for it, might as well get a V8 Rolling chassis, that way it already has the springs and k-member for the V8.

V6 auto tranny won't bolt up to the V8 anyways.

The gauge clusters are different, 110 or 120mph on most of them, the tach uses a different signal, some V6 clusters have dummy lights instead of gauges. They usually have better rear end gear ratios but they aren't posi, 3.23 & 3.42.

Other than that, they are the same, pretty much.
