Yes it is stronger than a 10 bolt. Yes it should be able to handle 450 hp. Is it stronger than a 12 bolt? That depends on the 12 bolt

Are you talking about the ford 9in,or the 9 bolt that came in some f/bodies.It sounds like you mean the 9 bolt. There is no real strenght difference maybe sligtly but not really measurable between the 10 bolt. There are more gear offerings for the 10 bolt than the 9 bolt. The 9 bolt was an austrailian rear. Both of these are not as strong as a 12in 12bolt.With 450hp and a 6spd with slicks a 10in rear won't hold up as good as a 12 bolt.If funds permit get a 12 bolt.If not take it easy off the line to prolong the life of your rear.

Also, check the latest issue of Hot Rod magazine, the one with the Formula Firebird on the cover. I will post a copy of it next week at www.9bolt.com.
Sure, a 12 bolt or a 9 inch are stronger, but not everyone needs one, especially at ~ twice the cost of a freshened 9 bolt. I've been running a 9 bolt for 4 years now behind my big block.

Holy cow, I remembered that article. I had just left El Toro a couple of months before. July 85 issue of Car Craft. I dug through my collection and I still have it.
Bummer, they didn't do a 1/4 mile test, just guessed it "might be capable of some high 14-second times".
$1300 Lear Siegler seat option! Ouch! That was a lot of money back then.
