Decisions, Decisions (Part Deux)

Okay guys, I took the majority advice on my last poll, and decided to go with option 1, which was Trick Flow 23 degree aluminum heads, and a cam.

Now, I have to decide whether to go with the Holley Stealth Ram, which would REALLY come close to my budget, or go with a new Converter and maybe a few other goodies. I was thinking of getting Roller tip rockers for about 90$, but are they worth it over my stock stamped rockers? What kind of HP would get freed up with those? What stall speeds would you suggest in a converter? Other recommendations?

Thanks for putting up with me guys.

i voted stealth ram. im still running stock heads and cam with a stealth ram and i love it. no more wall at 4500 rpm. now my wall is at about 5300. im sure the power gains youd get after doing heads and cam with a HSR would be awesome.

What kind of power gains did you see on a (near) stock setup? You basically have my exact setup right now, other than my flowmaster 40 series, and Accel coil. I've always been curious as to what my setup would get with just the Stealth Ram.

Oh, if I may ask, do you do computer programming? The "!" before the words in your setup mean "are not equal to", or, "does not exist" in C programming, I just noticed that.

not sure about power gains i have never been on a dyno, i know i lost some torque down low, but gained HP up high. my 1/4 ET's didnt change at all, however my 1/8 mile ETs were slower, but then i made it back up on the big end.

as for programming, i dont do my own work, i know a guy that does it. i tried to learn how to do it by reading on TGO but that stuff confuses the crap outa me

If your close to your budget than I'd say its up to you...If you want more power get the intake...if you want better driveability get the convertor.

Re: Decisions, Decisions (Part Deux)

Just got an update from Crane cams, I sent them a recommendation sheet. They recommended a Crane Compucam Camshaft, (summit p/n CRN-104224).

It's got 214/220 duration and a .452/.465 lift. They said that this cam is supposed to work better with the computer. If I get a cam such as this, will getting a chip burned help me out at all, or would it be just a waste?

Thats the biggest CompuCam they offer. Any suggestions you may have that might be a little more powerful, but still retain streetability? This is still my daily driver remember, I want to try to stay in the 15mpg area. I was actually pondering over an LT4 Hot Cam with a chip.
