dash problems
I know y'all have heard this a thousand times before, my heater
core has started leaking and I might as well inhale a bottle of
antifreeze.
This is a 91 Camaro Z28
basically I've got the dash pad off, both kickpanels off and the
center console moved back as far as I can get it. Unfortunatly
I can't get the dash to come off. I've removed all the screws I can
find, the four large screws with washers, two under the driver
side next to the kickpanel mount, the dash will freely move back
and forth on both sides but it refuses to move foward.
Am I missing any important non-visible screws? the Haynes
manual doesn't detail this part of the process.

I can't believe this? No one knows how to get the ****ing dash
off? NO ONE has changed their heater core by removing the dash
before?
Someone help me out here, my heat is barely working and I'm
freezing my butt off trying to get the dash off. it's 90% loose,
it just acts like it's hung up in the middle console to driver side
area

Ok... The way I did it which I have done twice, was to get the dash to the stage your at. Then with one hand I pulled the dash out from the firewall (just flexing the dash enought) and wedged it open with a towel or two. Then reach down and remove the screws on the heater core housing. One of them on top is a bitch but youll get it. Remove the screws on the bottom of the housing and replace heatercore. I never took the whole dash out. I did have to remove the center console though. Took me 2 hours to get the tools out, re/re heatercore and wipe the tools down and put them away. By the way my car is also a 91Z28 but witout AC.
Thanks for the information, that's what I ended up doing today.
took me forever to get the new core in, the pipes didn't line up
completly so I had to bend them, fraid to put cracks in them
though.
