cutting/connecting fuel line
cutting/connecting fuel line
i have a bad spot in my fuel line that i want to cut out and replace, what is some good ways to reconnect fuel line? will a compression fitting work good? I don't want any leaks cause i will be using about 50 psi of fuel at the track.
thanks
thanks
Yes, if you can get some good "unpitted" metal on each end. If not you can use some high pressure fuel hose and "double-clamp" each end. I have done it both ways especially in hard to reach ares, never had a leak...
so those small copper fittings will work?is there any chance of them leaking, because i really don't want my car to go on fire, i will be using a 255lph fuel pump 24lb inj. and 50 psi. is there any way to flare the stock lines? i just want to know the safest way without changing the whole line, just a section, thanks!!
You must "make sure the cut end stays fully seated in the compression fitting as you tighen it", and tighten it pretty TIGHT, it will hold way more than 50psi...
(I've used them on brakes, transmission lines, power steering and fuel...never had a problem.)

ok good, because the last thing i need it to catch my car on fire. i just want to make sure we are talking about the same peice, i'll take a pic of one and put it up. also what size is the stock fuel line? 1/4 of an inch?
thanks
thanks
The "feed line" from the tank to the fuel rail is 3/8".
The return line from the fuel rail to the tank is 5/16"..
The compression fitting has a "center-body" then a "ferrol"(brass ring), and a "compression nut" on each end...
