A couple questions about my LT1 swap.

1. I know I need a wirring harness. OBD1 or OBD2
2. Can I still use my gauge cluster or is it tied into the existing wirring?
3. What is needed to keep my M5?
4. How do I go about getting a wirring harness.

5. Id like to not have to cut my cross member so I may be using caprice brackets. Do I need to get a wirring harness from a caprice? Are there disadvantages to using a caprice harness?

6. Do I need to use a caprice ecm if I have to a caprice harness....

Anything you guys suggest?

1. OBD1 is easier to swap to, you can use either though. OBD1
2. Gauges will work fine
3. Nothing, maybe a different speedo interface like the dakota digital SGI-5.
4. Ebay, TGO, etc.
5. No, accessories are the same
6. I'd imagine but can't be sure

Re: A couple questions about my LT1 swap.

I think you can use any pcm that controlled an LT1.

I converted to obd1 and bought two pcms. One was from a Buick Roadmaster and the other I can't remember but both worked though.

Cool, so I can use my tranny untill I can save up for the t56. I think I'll go with the obd2 as its more diagnostic friendly.

Also, I was under the impression that the ac pump on caprices/impalas were mounted on the top of the top side of the engie, where as the pump is on the bottom side on a camaro. Maby its different between corvettes and camaros.

Any good sites and suggestios are welcome. Keep em comming.

It may be different on the caprices. It is also different between the vettes and maros.

Any good sites and suggestios are welcome. Keep em comming.

The vette brackets allows you to keep from denting in the cross member, or you can use a 1LE delete pulley for the the AC, and not have to dent the crossmemeber the only thing is no AC (duh). I stuck with the camaro brackets and just used an acetalene torch until it was glowing red and then beat the crap out of it with a ballpean (sp?) hammer.

i swapped the lt1 in already, havent finished the project 100% yet, but i got the harness off of a 96 camaro and the pcm was with it also.. i brought the pcm to speed inc, and they disabled the vats, and reprogrammed it to my specs and such... but when the time comes.. im curious on how to tie up all the internal electronics of the car to work now that the new harness is here ... so that my gauges work, and interior lights etc.. radio o0 :/
