cold weather and power?

cold weather and power?

hi guys,

i just got my iroc into a new phase of development with new plugs and new computer chip.

it was very cold 2day 0 degrees. the car seems to have less power, i haved heard cold weather kills power. is that correct?

cold air has a higher oxygen density. you shoudl enjoy increased power from it.
what chip did you put in? if it is an off the shlf chip i woudl suspect that is where teh lack of power is coming from.

assuming proper tuning, you will see a 1% gain in power for every 10* drop in air temperature

When it is cold outside my car runs like a raped ape. I feel a huge difference.

I remember when I had my computer controlled mpfi v6, it ran like crap when it was cold here, but after it got decently warm(150-180), it ran like a "raped ape" (thanks Zeph) . I don't know about some engines, but every gm I've had didn't like really cold air until after it got warmed up...maybe it's just me. The weather doesn't get into the single digits here in sc, only about 20...15 on some nights but that's about it.
