It doesn't necessarily mean you need a new sensor. The code 36 is for the relay, not the sensor. Those are about $10 and take 5 minutes to change.

The code 33 could mean a bunch of things. It could be something simple like a TPS adjustment or it's possible that it could be the sensor too.

yea,the adjustment was outta whack and i reset it while i was in shop class (the same time i was checking codes) back to .54V. the code 36 could mean that i need a new TPS or MAF?

no, 36 means you probably need a MAF burn-off relay

you might have a vacumn leak, that will cause high idle, and can set a MAF code

Make sure the key was on for 30sec.."before"...you unplugged the IAC, that'll fully seat the pintle.
And 400rpm is WAY low, 750 is the norm.
Also check the fuse for the MAF, near the fender-well, two wires going to a dead end plug, inside is the fuse. This happened to me on my '86 2.8MPI and I swapped my MAF with a buddy's and still coded. Then I traced all of the wiring for the MAF and found the fuse was blown...

iroczone.com says to set it at 400 w/ the IAC unplugged and w/ it plugged in it should idle at 600 or so. i just grounded A&B,unhooked the IAC and turned the key on for 30 secs. then started it,maybe thats y, ill try it tmw. not trying to pick ur brain or anything, but do u happen to remember which fender-well? im guessing passenger but a better direction is always better and thanx alot for all the help.
