clunking during semi-heavy throttle

I've never had a problem like this before. At low speed, and mostly being stopped or hardly rolling there is this horrible clunking sound. This only happens if its a little past 1/4 throttle. Feels like the tranny is slipping or somethin and it even sounds bad. I can almost feel it in the console. My car only has 66k on it, i wouldn't think the tranny is dying already?

Sounds exactly like a tranny mount. A polyurethane one will run you $25 and last virtually forever.

NOTE: They are notorious for going out. Nothing serious.

Where can I find this mount? I know theres that big peice that runs perpendicular to the tranny. I guess I've never dealt with any transmission problems in my life, mostly engine stuff. Pics would be great. Will I definately be able to tell its broken? Such as big crack, etc.? Thanks for the help so far man.

Yeah, just push up hard on the tailshaft of the tranny. If the mount's gone the tailshaft will move up and you'll see where the rubber mount actually ripped in half. Let it back down and the mount looks just fine (the two halves mate back together perfectly).

I used to shred cheap rubber parts store tranny mounts about once a year- in my V6 Camaro! Switched to a poly mount and never had another problem.

Or basically any high performance parts store and even some large nationwide parts chain stores can order them.

All you need is a jack, a couple of jack stands and some common hand tools to complete the job.

You can use ramps instead of jackstands.
I broke my first 13mm socket (S&K, so it wasn't crap), then I got a strong friend to get it off with a wrench Anti-seize the bolts so you won't need the strong friend next time.

This is what it looks like. That is if you scroll down a little to the tranny mount.
