On the way to the F-body Gathering (It was amazing by the way) I was charging my cell phone and then I went to pull the charger out and it was stuck. I finally got it out but the top part was stuck in the cigarette lighter. I shut off the car and used pliers to pull it out. When I turned the car back on my power locks and radio wouldn't work. I figured out it was the accesory fuse so I replaced it. I had the lighter part back in the holder and I smelled a faint burining smell and then I heard the fuse pop. What is the deal with my cigarette lighter?????????

 

those lighters are wierd take it out put foam tape around it push it in the hole so it dosent make contact and dosent fall out to keep your interior looking ok.

 

Sounds like it got too hot and melted into the holder.

BTW, I had many phones that had batteries go bad when I used the adapter on them. Somehow when we got our phones, both at the same time and same model, the wife's phone battery would not seem to hold a charge after a while. Her phone was constantly hooked up to the car and mine was using the charger provided. Took her car charger away and all was fine. Talked to several salesmen and they told me the same thing.
