Chassis evolution?

Chassis evolution?

how different were the frames from the 3rd gen to 4th gen? i saw a post either in the lounge or 3rd gen tech about the mustang only havin a chassis change once in like 20 years or something and just got me thinking as to how different the 3rds are from the 4th......

The rear subframe and floorpan is close enough that everything swaps over pretty easily. The front subframe is generally the same shape, but a little different to accomodate the coilovers, rack, and upper/lower control arm setup.

so thats why the 4th gen front clip bolts into the 3rd gen so easily?

What do you mean when you say "front clip?"

i would not say it is easy, or use the term 'bolt in' if you are talking about doing a whole front suspension swap from generations.

i have seen/heard about ONE car that has a full 4th gen front end conversion, and IIRC it took a ton of work.

c4 vette IRS's seem to go in to 3rd gens too if, but I wouldn't consider either a bolt in.
