carb & intake swap

carb & intake swap

my 83 Z has a crossfire 305, i want to put an edelbrock performer carb and intake on it, is it an easy swap? besides the carb & intake what other parts will i need? and is this a good swap? will i really gain anything on performance? thanks for any help you can give!

You need, a fuel pressure regulator cause the FI fuel pump is gonna spit out more fuel pressure than the carb will like. And you need a pre 80 distributor so it isnt computer controlled

That about covers it. You'll probably notice a nice gain because the CFI engines are notorious for needing constant attention and if it hasn't been carefully set up and maintained you're losing a lot of power.

check out the Mallary adjustable fuel pressure regulator. ive got 1 on my car to take the F.I. fuel pump down to 5 psi and it does a great job. it has 3 ports around it,and 1 on the bottom...u can do like i did and plug 1 of them,use 1 for getting the fuel to the carb,and the 3rd to put a fuel pressure gauge in. send me a PM (private message) if u want,and ill take a picture and send it to u. the thing runs about $75-80 but its worth it.
