carb or fuel injection

carb or fuel injection

so running a carb on a tpi puts out more power or less i see a lot of people switch i know fuel injection is better on gas but is there more power found in a carb. like if i was to switch to a edel with the high rise intake and could i still pass smog 89 trans am gta with 5.7 auto with g92 option

you would probbaly be happier switching to alternate means of injection rather than a carb swap, especially if you have to pass emmisions. Go to a modified LT1 intake or something.

There is no way in California to pass emissions with a carb intake on a 91 car. You'd be going 4 years backwards and that's not allowed. Any competent smog guy will fail you on the visual inspection.

As far as carb vs TPI of course you will get higher rpm with a carb, but you will lose the benefits of the computer controlled driveability. It boils down to what you are more familiar with. I love EFI and will never go back to an outdated carb. If you want a carb engine in California, you'll need to buy an f-body from 1987 or older.

But didn't GM come out with a CARB approved 350 with a carburetor that is a legal replacement for all 3rd gens?
