Car Shut Off And Wont Start!!!
Car Shut Off And Wont Start!!!
Aiight i installed my MAF connecter, well the new Connecter didnt have the same colors as the old wires so i just matched the colors up to how it was set up on the old connecter (same set up). I connected it got it done, closed my hood then i took off from my house kinda fast, (it felt better now that i had the MAF back workin) So as i got to the end of my street when i braked, the car just lost power and died, i tried to start it and it wouldnt start. So i just pushed it home from there, it still dont start. i dont know whats wrong, Could i have blown a chip or a sensor by just taking off after installing my new MAF connecter? HELP!!
Shes my daily driver.

How about the fuel pump? If its the stock unit, I would say 17 years is a good run for the old pump. MY old carbed 86 did that on the freeway, just quit. It would crank for days but not fire. got it home, shot a little starting fluid in the carb and it kicked over till it burned that off. worth a shot. I don't see the maf sensors affecting it that way. Most cars can still run without the maf hooked up, just not too well. good luck bro

That is how ignition modules go kaput, too. Car runs fine until you shut it off yet it will never start again--just cranks and cranks and ...
Pull it out from under the distributor cap and take it to any decent parts shop, where they will test it for free and let you know if it is toast.
Don't go el cheapo in replacing it, though. This is one of those components where you definitely get what you pay for. (I learned this the hard way, after spending well over $100 on 3 or 4 JUNK Taiwan-built modules that only lasted a few months before kicking the bucket
)
Good ones are made by GM Delco, Blue Streak, MSD, etc., and will cost at least $40 or so. But you won't need another one for a long time

Aight, Thnks for your resposnes guys!
Well i came to figure that while turning the ignition to the On position, I dont hear my fuel pump turning on, so this is the problem right? I got a pretty new fuel filter in. (1 Month Old)

Yeah, you should hear it run for 2-3secs when you turn the key to the ON position. Have someone turn the key while you open the gas cap and listen, even if you can hear it but it sounds slow, it's bad.
