car running hot?
car running hot?
okay, i have a 92 camaro RS , 305 , when i get into stop and go traffic the temperature increases from 160 to about 210... is this normal? or what could be causing this? i changed my radiator cap and flushed my radiator already, it changed it a little, but it is still getting hot... please help.
You can get a fan switch to bring the fans on at 200*, or one to kick in at 177*.
I have the lower one, runs good but it wont pass emissions that way, the ECU wont go int closed loop mode. (and no heat)
If you have a manual fan you can just swap the thermostat for what ever temp range you want.
I would go for the 200 degree switch still will pass emissions and you have heat and the ECU will go into closed loop mode.

mine was exactly like that, until i changed the radiator cap, now in the heavy traffic mine is at 210 - 215 and then when i go cruise down a road going 60 - 70 mph, mine goes down to 160 ..
and irocvette, i'm car illiterate, what do you mean by ecu? and loop mode.. i'm lost...
These cars just run hot. Your's is by no means the hottest running camaro out there if it is only 210 in traffic. What I did on my car and quite a few of my freinds have done as well to great success, is run a constant power switch to the fans. I will have to double check on my set up but I beleive it is the orange wire on the fan relay that controls the power on for the fans. What I do is let my car get up to 150 or so, and then throw on the fans. I leave the fans on the entire time I drive the car until I park it and then turn them off. This set up is also very good for cooling off the coolant in the rad while waiting to race. Just leave the fans on and the coolant in your rad cools down at a fast rate. I personally fire up the car for a minute or so to get the coolant flowing again and then shut it down and let the fans cool the now hot rad fluid again. If you need any help setting up a fan switch in your car mail me and I will get the exact wires from my car and give you directions for how to set it up. It is very simple and way less intimidating than you can imagin. Good luck
