does it happen if you ease the gas and slowly push it further down? Does it happen in any other gear? I had a problem similer to that on my 97 GMC, turnes out the Throttle body wasn't bolted down tight enough and air was seeping through... but sence yours is carbed, I'm not sure if thats the problem.

Good luck!

Might be the notorious QJet bog. Your carb probably needs to have the Air Valve spring tension reduced and a richer set of secondary rods installed. Go to www.thirdgen.org and look up the Tech Article on tuning the QJet.

They work very well, and get great mileage, when tuned right

Sounds like something in the carb. Happened to my Yamaha Warrior a while back. It may be an ATV but I dont think the carbs are that much different. It turned out my pilot jet had fallen out. We put a new one in and everything is good.

Check your ignition timing and emmision equipt. I had the problem on my 84 Z L-69 and it all the F@#%$^& smog eq. (EGR, O2, A.I.R. sys. ETC...) once all that was up to par I still had hesitation, I adjusted my timing (6 deg. BTDC) and all was right with the world.

Classic smog vacuum secondary carb bog. There are secondary lock-outs that at low rpm operation are controlled by vacuum and pull the lock-out on the secondary choke horn keeping it shut.
